I ordered the perfect Zara coat – then I discovered a huge design flaw, people say it’s MY fault

I ordered what I thought was the perfect winter coat from Zara – then I discovered an annoying design flaw, people say it’s MY fault

A fashion influencer was left heartbroken after discovering a ‘design flaw’ with her £169 Zara winter coat – but people think she’s to blame for not spotting it sooner.

Suzie Bonaldi, 31, from Brighton, recently bought a £169 longline piece of black outerwear from Zara’s recent collaboration with South Korean fashion house Ader Error.

In a viral TikTok that has garnered more than 468,000 views, the style blogger explained how she was instantly drawn to the coat when she saw it on the site.

She said: ‘This is all I wanted, this is to give [designer] Wardrobe NYC. It gives Hailey Bieber.’

Suzie Bonaldi, 31, from Brighton, thought this £169 black Zara coat was ‘stunning’ when she first saw it on the brand’s website

Showing a photo of the model wearing it online, Suzie said it was ‘stunning’ and challenged her 48,000 followers to see if they could see ‘anything wrong with it’.

When it arrived in the post, Suzie was delighted with the structured yet oversized fit and padded shoulders.

She then proceeded to style it with a YSL quilted bag, black jeans and leather boots and posed for a mirror selfie in her living room.

Since her hair was down when she first tried it on, Suzie didn’t initially see a bright blue fabric mark – which is Ader Error’s trademark – on the right shoulder of the coat.

It was only a few days later when she was rushing for a train that she spotted the bright blue tag – which Suzie says put her off ever shopping at Zara again.

She continued, ‘What is it? What is it? […] I would the [price] mark out and I had two minutes before I had to leave for the train station, I don’t have time to change an entire outfit. So I decide I can cut it out.’

After removing the designer logo tag, Suzie said the remaining white stitching made it look like she was chewing ‘gum or bird poo’ on her back – so she covered it in a panic with black eyeliner.

“So now I just look like I’ve repaired my coat,” she added. ‘Which, you know, sustainable. We love it. She’s a vibe.’

Suzie's video got more than 468,000 views - but the overwhelming majority of viewers were unsympathetic

Admitting she was at fault, Suzie said: ‘Should I have been more careful when shopping on the Zara website? Yes.

‘Should I have inspected the garment when it arrived before trying it on? Also yes.

‘But I’m also tired of Zara doing weird stuff, even if it’s part of a collab? Am I tired of them charging £169 for something like this? It looks like you have a sticker on your back!’

She then captioned the video: ‘Still not over this. WHYYYYY.’

But despite Suzie’s frustration, the overwhelming majority of viewers said the brand was not to blame on this occasion.

‘It’s a collaboration with Ader Error bestie,’ one replied. ‘True brand lovers will recognize it from a distance.’

Another horrified viewer added: ‘Hun, you just reduced the value of the jacket by cutting off the designer label from Ader Error.’

“Wait until Bella Hadid wears Ader Error,” said a third. “Then I’m sure all these influencers will love it and buy it in bulk.”

Responding to another viewer who told her the tag was Ader Error’s signature, Suzie used the laughing emoji and said: ‘I know but it doesn’t give.’
